Legislative and Regulatory Support
Provide a common single focus for organizations interested and/or involved in commute benefit issues.
Serve as an informed source of information and expertise in dealing with Congress, governmental agencies, trade and public interest organizations and others involved in the transit tax benefit.
Advocate and support efforts to:
  Expand the benefit; raise the cap to $190.
  Eliminate the distinctions between different kinds of employers, i.e. LLC or Sub-S corporations.
  Secure an appropriate de minimus credit for employers to subsidize part of the benefit.
  Represent the interests of NTBA members before public forums at appropriate times.
  Serve as liaison to Washington DC based organizations to secure these initiatives.
  Assure that transit's interests are well reflected in any potential changes to the existing laws and regulations.
Expand the Benefit
Provide assistance and support to organizations interested in developing transit benefit programs.
Establish a referral database of program providers, course offerings and 'experts' on establishing and operating transit tax benefit programs.
Explain the Benefit
Provide a clear, concise, IRS sanctioned description of programs and uses of the transit tax benefit.
Protect the Benefit
Develop standards for preferred methods of providing the benefit that maximize the use of transit and ensure conformity with IRS requirements.
Service Provider Validation
Develop a service provider "Mark of Excellence" for programs that conform to NTBA standards.
Service Provider Coordinating Body
Develop a service provider "Mark of Excellence" for programs that conform to NTBA standards.
Information & Clearinghouse Services
Create Committees, Councils or Work Groups (Task Force) to focus on the common goals of advancing the transit benefit.
Collect and disseminate technical, marketing and other informational materials.
Develop a web site for informational and member services.
Develop & Support Marketing Activities
Develop and/or support opportunities for marketing and promoting the transit benefit.
Partnerships
Form partnership and alliances to foster the use of the transit tax benefit.
